Daniella, an orphaned, destitute teenager, resorts to disguising herself as a young man in order to obtain a job. She becomes one of the king’s servants and quickly gains his confidence as a trusted, favored servant. The queen, however, jealously resent the young “man,” complaining about “him” for the least little thing. She deliberately causes trouble for Daniella by lying about “his” misdeeds. Daniella denies the charges, of course. To ferret out the truth, the king sends Daniella to Gologobus, Land of the Giants, to retrieve the Bird-Who-Knows-Everything, a risky venture. When Daniella and the king’s magic, flying horse return, the Bird-Who-Knows-Everything exposes the queen’s lies and is quickly dispatched to Gologobus as punishment. The Bird reveals Daniella’s disguise as well. Later, word reaches the king that his former queen has been killed. What effect will that have on the king?
